This an excellent introductory hybrid training to attend and learn to use Child-Centered Play Therapy with your clients.

Training Description:

This workshop will explore the central tenants and skills of Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and allow participants to practice some of the most basic yet essential play therapy tools. Participants will learn the theoretical rationale for CCPT, how to implement CCPT and practice how to incorporate it into play therapy sessions, and how to work with family members from this theoretical approach.

Participants will practice reflecting on feelings, content, meaning, tracking, limit setting, and encouragement versus praise.

Participants should be prepared to have lots of fun playing and are encouraged to discuss how CCPT can fit into their practice.

This will be a virtual and interactive, and playful training to do child-centered work with individuals.

You will receive the following:

A digital workbook to use during and after as a guide for doing sessions.

You can earn these CEUS after completing an evaluation.

6 Play Therapy Contact hours from APT (attend in person) or 6 Play Therapy Non-Contact hours (attend virtually)

6 CEUs from NBCC or 6 CEUs from NASW DC

Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss the History of play therapy and Child Centered Play Therapy

2. List the eight foundational principles underlying the Child-Centered Play Therapy Method

3. Demonstrate the Therapists skills and responses to the children’s play styles and intersectionality.

4. Analyze the setting and enforcing limits and when to use limit setting.

5. Apply the four stages of the Child-Centered Play Therapy process

6. Demonstrate and apply the five types of empathic responses in play therapy sessions.

You will watch videos of the whole child and therapist mock CCPT sessions during the training.

Each instructor/presenter will disclose any other relationship reasonably construed as a conflict of interest. And will describe any financial support for a continuing education program at the time the continuing education program begins. And ensure a designated individual or a slide at the start of the presentation and documentation in materials clearly states any potential conflicts when the continuing education program begins.
